Background

Jennifer Petoff is the Site Reliability Engineering Programme Manager at Google and one of the four editors of the SRE book. She joined Google after a career in research chemistry, bringing a programme-management discipline distinct from the engineering backgrounds of her co-editors.

Core Positions

Petoff's editorial influence is visible in the book's treatment of SRE as an organisational and management discipline — training, on-call rotation design, postmortem culture, and the human factors that make or break a reliability programme. She has argued publicly that effective SRE depends as much on how teams are structured and supported as on the technical practices they apply.

Co-editor; her programme-management lens is most visible in the book's chapters on training, on-call culture, and embedding SREs into product teams.
