Background

Michael Nygard is a software architect and consultant with extensive experience running large-scale production systems. His work focuses on the operational characteristics of software — stability, capacity, deployment, and adaptability. He coined or popularised many of the stability patterns that are now standard vocabulary in resilience engineering: Circuit Breaker, Bulkhead, Timeout, Fail Fast, and others.
